FAQ

Frequently asked questions for therapists.

Answers about getting started with HHL, onboarding documents, EIN setup, malpractice insurance, OASIS, scheduling, documentation, and payments.

Do I have to leave my current job to work with HHL?

No. Many therapists start with part-time, weekend, or extra weekday visits around an existing clinic, school, hospital, or family schedule.

How do I control my availability and caseload?

You enter your availability in the HHL system and can update it when your schedule changes. Patients are not assigned automatically; you review each referral and choose whether to accept or decline.

How do I know what I could earn?

Use the earnings preview to test different weekly visit goals by discipline and region. Exact rates are reviewed during onboarding and depend on visit type, experience, credentials, and coverage needs.

What credentials do I need before I begin working?

Please have your driver's license, resume, clinical license, CPR card, malpractice insurance, recent physical, recent TB test results, car insurance, EIN confirmation, and COVID vaccine record ready for onboarding. Physicals should state no work restrictions, and physicals and TB results should be dated within the last 12 months.

Where can I get my physical exam and TB test results?

You can use your primary care physician, a walk-in clinic, or an urgent care center. If you need a fast and affordable option, WellnessMart is one commonly used walk-in clinic resource. Just make sure the results are dated within the last 12 months.

Do I need prior home health experience?

Prior home health experience is preferred, but it is not required. HHL values strong clinical skills and provides orientation support to help therapists understand home health expectations, workflow, and documentation.

Do I need OASIS experience?

Having a handle on OASIS makes a huge difference for SOC, ROC, and Discharge visits. HHL is happy to chat about your current comfort level and any training you might need. We also offer Roger AI when applicable, a helpful tool designed to make completing your OASIS documentation faster and easier.

Is shadowing available before I start seeing patients?

Yes. Optional shadowing can be discussed during your virtual orientation. Your account manager can pair you with an experienced clinician in your area so you can observe real patient visits and get familiar with the workflow.

What documentation timing should I expect?

Visit notes are expected within 24-48 hours, and weekly documentation should be signed and locked on time for billing. HHL support can help with workflow, technical issues, and documentation questions.

Can I work weekends only or mix weekdays and weekends?

Yes. You can share weekday, weekend, or mixed availability so HHL can understand the schedule you are trying to build.

What happens when I need time off?

If you are planning vacation or need coverage support, HHL can help coordinate around your schedule so time off does not become another source of stress.

How do invoices and payments work?

Therapists submit invoices through the HHL website by the 3rd and 18th of each month. HHL helps keep visit records and payment tracking organized, with timely direct deposits and less back-and-forth across multiple agencies.

What equipment or technology do I need?

Ready to hit the field? At HHL, we want you to have the best tools for the job. We require all therapists to use their own devices, preferably a tablet with a data plan to stay connected on the go. Adding a Bluetooth keyboard and a battery pack can further simplify your documentation. We will cover the rest during onboarding, including Chrome setup, offline signature tips for Android, and shortcuts that make completing your visits a breeze.
